Any recommendations out there for guards for teeth grinding? I cannot afford the dentist%26#039;s version. I%26#039;ve heard of the Boil-N-Bite ... anyone with experience with that or any other ideas? Thanks!
Teeth grinding...guard recommendations?
Hi, I have only really used the nightguards sold by my dentist. I clench my teeth at night and without it for just a few nights and I end up needing another root canal done. My dentist uses the thickest material available to him and makes a mold of my teeth first. I recently had another made and the cost was $110.00.(Wisconsin) He made this one higher(it goes up over the gums somewhat) than those I have had in the past and that was because some people say they come out at night. I have never had any trouble with any of my past 5 or so guards coming out at night. I also can not sleep with out it as I know the consequences. I have had new ones made due to new fillings, lost one, and discoloration and loosening somewhat after quite a long time. In a pinch I have tried the tooth whitening kit type of plastic tooth tray, that was not a good alternative for me.
Reply:use like a mouth guard.. like the football players.. that works best.. at least so you dont wear out your teeth..
Reply:i would recommend you stop
Reply:I grind...got a mouth guard...guess what? Spit it out in my sleep. They don%26#039;t work that great. It was one that you boil and bite on so it fits your teeth only, but nothing keeps it in your mouth. Possibly dentists would have better ones that won%26#039;t come out?
Reply:I had used the boil and bite and could not keep it in my mouth all night. Now, I have one from my dentist, and I can%26#039;t sleep without it! It was comfortable from the start.
Maybe you could start saving a little at a time to pay for a good one. Mine was $350.00 a year and a half ago.
Reply:the most effective mouth guard is one that is professionally made by a dentist or orthodontist. they take an impression of your teeth and custom make the mouth guard to fit securely in your mouth. the only downfall is that they are slightly expensive
